Final Film

continuity task

For are continuity task we made an anamatic of what we where going to film. i was given the task of writing the script which i didnt do a very good job with it. my group then decided to shoot in the winter gardens as i wasnt around to confure with. I was unable to attende but the other members of my group did a very good job of it. one of the members of my group acted and the other filmed, i am very proud of the filming as clair wasnt very experiance but did a very good job of it. i then met up with the group and watched the footage and started to help them edit.
This helped us alot for when we got to are first shooting as we all had experiance with the camera so we could all shoot when we where out so we could get more shots and make what we can do more.
i think that this task is really going to help us in the shooting of are opening as it will give all of us confidence to shoot and gives the other members of thew group more time to direct the actors and find location, props and more.

Evalutions of thrillers

Ithink there are lots of codes and conventions of thriller films. the music that is plaid, the charicters in the film and the storyline but there are also some key codes and conventions for the opening of a thriller which is what i am interested in.
What i noticed about all the thriller openings is that they are very mysteriouse and dont give anything away about the story wheather it be "MI2", "sin city" or even "se7en" also i think that with all of them is that they are all mainly about the music rather than the visual as but the music is very much supported by the visual as without it, its just a song.
With the thriller we are planning on basing are thriller the codes and conventions of the opening are different. we are thinking of a Bond kind of film so when we really get intop the planning we will have to look into these kind of thrillers alot more.

thriller 5 - lost highway

credits fit to the title

doesn't give anything away from the story

text is like from road signs

the car seems to be going nowhere as if it is "lost"

bumpy ride to show that this isn't a new highway, more of an older one

lost highway is a good name as the car does seem lost as there is nothing around all you can see is these headlights.

the content connotes that this is going to be a psychological thriller or a horror rather than action.

the camera isn't kept steady to show that this is a fairly sketchy to show that this film isnt perfect

Thriller 4 - sin city

limited colour from the start: black, white and red

no one centralized to start, don't know who it the antagonist and the protagonist

man put his hand in his jacket and waits a second before getting out his cigarettes as if a small dramatic pause

we get the first close ups of the character and at first the woman appears to be the bad person in the scene

shot reverse shot of them talking with the man having the most of the screen time.

there kiss is vectored to show the intensity of it.

begins to rain to show that everything isn't perfect.

they kiss again but after we only see the woman smiling as if the man didn't enjoy it as much as she did.

the roles begin to change as instead of the woman seeming like the bad one the man is at this point.

after this we see a small flash and the woman jolts and we know that she has been shot.

we only see the womans really nice side befor she dies but then it is to late.

we then see the gun to confirm that he has shot her

we see a birds eye veiw of them on the floor with the man holding the woman and the man looking to sky to tell us that he didnt want to do this

the camera finally zooms out and we see where this is set, "sin city"

Thriller 3 - Grand prix

the film opens with basic white text on a black background. this doesn't have much meaning to the audience but the camera then zooms out and we see that the black was the inside of an exhaust pipe and the font of the text is the same text as grand prix text.
the main shots in the opening are cu and ms to show the cars and the quality of them to the watcher to show what the film is about.
we then see tools being used to tighten up the cars and make them more up for racing. this shows the audience the precision involved in race cars
we then see the engine of the car to show what the car uses to move.
the opening is slowly showing us what makes the car work. this gives the audience a better understanding of the film
we then see the fans of the grand prix which show the popularity of the sport and the kind of people who are fans. the child in the shot shows that it is a family sport.
there is then a series of shots of the drivers. this shows us how unsafe the sport is and the risk the drivers put them selves under.

Thriller 2 - Mission Impossible II

extreme long shot to establish where this scene is taking place, it also shows us that there is no one around.
tom cruise is climbing a cliff with no ropes to save him if he falls. this shows how extreme he is and that he has no fears.
the cliffs are red to connote the danger of what he is doing
we see his rest which tells us that even though he is a fine specimen of man he isn't perfect.
shots are dominated with els and ls to show us the how extreme what he is doing is and that if he falls he will die.
he leans back on the cliff which once again shows how daring he is as he leaning off a cliff hundreds or thousands of feet in the air.
his jump from one part of the cliff to another showings again how fearless he is but also show his agility.
he then slips and hangs on the edge of the cliff. this show his strenghth and power as he can hold himself easily.
also as he is hanging we see his face. but when we see it there isnt much emotion on his face other than determination which shows another part of him.
Tom then reaches the top of the cliff and we see how far he is climbed and we get the idea of how dangerous the task he has done just was
